How does Mormino Lawn Care Maintenance Work?
After visiting your property, the Mormino lawn care professional will develop a customized plan. You can choose to focus on just the lawn or also on flower beds, trees, shrubs, or hardscaping features like brick patios or landscape lighting.
The Mormino Lawn Care Program involves weekly maintenance starting in April and running until the end of October to keep your lawn looking great all season. Your lawn care professional may recommend a spring clean-up to remove old plant material and get your property reading for the growing season. Additional spring services include dethatching or power-raking and core-aeration and possible application of a crabgrass pre-emergent. You will also be presented with a plan for periodic fertilizing which typically consists of four applications throughout the growing season.
After the growing season ends, Mormino Landscape Services Inc offers a fall clean-up service and a fall core-aeration.

What about Trimming and Pruning?
Trimming and pruning of necessary plant material is generally performed two or three times throughout the growing season. Trimming not only enhances the aesthetics of your landscape, it is important for the health of much of your property. Removing excessive or dead growth from trees and shrubs will redirect wasted energy into the healthy and desirable portions of the plant thus creating a more vigorous specimen. Our full-time trimming crew has tremendous knowledge and understanding of the specific needs of all of your plant material.

How Often Should I Water?
For plants and lawns, slow and deep watering at long intervals is better than watering often but lightly. Early morning watering is best because the sun dries the plant material and minimizes chance of disease and grubs. When watering, direct the water to the soil level because only the roots need the water. Avoid watering the leaves.
For
established plants, trees and lawns, we recommend a deep soak once per week which encourages the development of deep and strong root structures. In extremely hot weather, you may have to water more frequently.
For plants in
containers and pots, you have to water more frequently because the soil dries out quickly. During the peak of summer, you may have to water containers on a daily basis, especially if the location is sunny.
For
newly seeded lawns or sod, we recommend keeping the ground consistently damp. This might require your sprinkling several times a day to keep it moist, especially if the weather is warm or windy. Continue to water regularly until the grass is several inches tall, and then begin to water less often but more deeply.
For
new plants, shrubs and trees during the first season, water:
Every 6 days if 60 or under as a daytime high
Every 4 days if 60-80 degrees
Every 2 days if over 80 degrees

What do you Recommend for Lawn Fertilizing?
A typical
fertilization program consists of four applications.
Application 1:
Applied in late March to early April, this complete lawn fertilizer includes crabgrass preventer.
(Please note: If you are planning to seed your lawn in the spring, most crabgrass preventers will prevent the germination of the grass seed. A fertilizer without crabgrass preventer should be applied.)
Application 2:
Applied in May, the second fertilizer application will include broadleaf weed control.
Application 3:
July is the time to apply this third fertilization. This application includes insecticide for grub prevention.
Application 4:
The last of the four standard applications is performed in October. This winterizer/weed control will prepare the lawn for the following spring.
Custom Programs:
If your turf grass is in need of something beyond a regular fertilization program, we can inspect, diagnose and create a customized restoration program to bring your lawn back to a healthy state.
Soil Test:
Soil samples taken from various areas throughout a lawn will determine any deficiencies in nutrient levels.
